My interest in photography started at the age of 13, with my savings from delivering newspapers my dear father helped me buy an SLR camera that I so desperately wanted or should I say ''needed''. Life kept on moving along and soon enough I was a young adult, embroiled in a life of working to pay the bills as a Graphic Arts printer which I did for many years. This further nourished my interest in anything visual, colourful and artistic and was my greatest teacher of precision and patience. I photographed the odd wedding and event in my early years, however I never found the financial freedom to pursue this as my career until 4 years ago. And so, with the encouragement of my family and friends I decided to take a leap of faith into the world of photography as a career and everything has worked out wonderfully.
In 2013 I was fortunate enough to be given a start with a local company working with great people doing the yearly student portraits for schools and preschools. Under my own banner I have also been working as an event photographer, photographing triathlons for the previous 3 years and marketing material for Nestle as well as family portrait weekend sessions and the odd wedding......I think I have almost made up for all those years that I dreamt of doing this as a career!!
Photography is now a full time job for me and I am still as passionate as that young 13 year old was many moons ago..I'm not counting how many that is!
My fascination and respect for photography lies with its ability to carry any moment throughout the years and if you think about it, there is nothing other than our genetic information that will survive the passing down to generations quite like an image. Images are one of the most important things we can leave behind.
